BIOGRAPHY

Io is a versatile Brighton-based bass player originally from Athens, Greece. Starting her musical studies in classical piano at the age of five, she later joined a local music workshop in her hometown, where she played guitar and sang, before going on to falling in love with bass.

After completing grade 6 in classical piano, she moved to the UK in 2015 where she quickly became part of the city’s thriving music scene, working as a session bassist with a wide range of artists and bands across well-known venues and festivals.

Notable festival appearances include a main stage performance at Rebellion Punk Festival, Y Not, 2000 Trees, and Fusion Festival in Germany.

As a session musician, Io has performed extensively across the UK, mainland Europe, Israel, and the Caribbean. More recently, she has been touring nationwide as the main bass player for 'Massaoke: Sing The Musicals', performing in some of the UK’s most established venues, including Sheffield City Hall, The Alban Arena, Usher Hall in Edinburgh, De Montfort Hall and many more.

Along with bass duties, Io also sings backing vocals and lead on occasion.

During her time on the scene, Io has worked with artists across multiple genres, including Georgia Train (Bitter Ruin), Steve Hewitt (Placebo), Interlaker (Lonely The Brave, Arcane Roots), the Ramonas, Hightown Parade, Bella Spinks, Satch Satchell, KIDS and more.

Her latest recording work includes writing and recording bass for Georgia Train’s album 'Needles & Pinches' and local Brighton artist Aida Heston.
